Call To Order
Calendar changes are the result of PARCC testing. There will be one end of year assessment. Changes on calendar thus far: Parent conferences are March 30th and 31st. Staff in service will be March 21st. Back to school night on Sept. 9th and 10th. We can now follow RVS on Twitter, will be on the home page. @RVSfalconpride (twitter account) As part of the message to the kids we are expressing school pride by offering spirit wear. The students have given ideas. Trying to promote school pride/symbolism.
Board of Education Report:
Christi Anthony has resigned effective October 23rd. Next board meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 16th.
Teachers thanked us for the luncheon and the RVS kindergarten t-shirts.
Reading of the Correspondence:
Thank you card for the luncheon from Ms. Kuhl. We sent two $500 scholarship checks to recipients. Get well card for Diane Lorber. Corde Reed’s father passed away so we will send a card. Miguel Castro had surgery-one of custodians-will send a card. Typically give a $200 stipened for new teachers. Approved dropping stipened to $50, on account of they are accurately compensated, and giving HSA directory access for free.
We are starting 2015-2016 school year off $7,000 less than 2014-2015 school year.

At least 80 families have logged onto website directory. Website is enhanced to get access for events such as the trunk or treat, art shows, etc. to get volunteers.
Surveys went out to the teachers.
Working hard to get the story pirates into RVS.
The new company, Simply Gourmet Lunches, will be at back-to-school night to talk to parents and answer questions. Hot lunch was raised to $4.00, with NO profit to the HSA. There will no longer be a salad bar. Pizza is getting raised to $2.00 a slice. No coupons/tickets. Teachers can order online as well. Menu will be available 15th of month before. Deadline to order is three days before. Snacks will be from a vendor who will deliver to the school. Will compare price of water to find a vendor. Option of finding a vendor to have Poland Spring type system-more environmentally friendly.
Lunch Volunteer Coordinator:
Need a volunteer for Fridays. Question about the safe and who will be collecting. Need to find a different paper vendor.
Teacher luncheon was a success. We will provide waters and mints for back-to-school night.
Lower Grade Liaisons:
Volunteer email went out for class parents. Starting to plan lower grade fun night. Possibly remove 4th grade.
Upper Grade Liaisons:
In the process of finding volunteers.
8th Grade Liaison:
Yankee candle sale will go out around September 14th til January. Poinsetta sale will be at the end of October or beginning of November. Approximately 57-58 eighth graders. Discussing the eighth grade banquet and what HSA will contribute.
Hoping to touch base with librarian. Will need a Wednesday volunteer. Talked about changing book fair location. Book fair will be first week of December.
Mountain Lakes Liaison:
ML Election bake sale on October 19th. HSA gets 100% contributions for pulled pork. Herd is doing a Roma fundraiser starting in September.
Kerri or Kim will be at October meeting to give a description/information on family support.
YMCA teen night. Fifth grade rollerskating event.
There will be two tables at back-to-school night. Extra Kidstuff books will be available. Possibly have spirit wear to show the parents.
Lots of options for kids and adults. Putting together logos and will run it by administration. Will put flyers in virtual backpack-two week order time frame. Some ideas are sweats, t-shirts, hoodies, flannel pajama pants, various hats, fleeces.
HSA gets 20% of proceeds.
Fundraising Events for 2015-16:
Kidstuff is going out today. We get 50% of proceeds. Gift wrap starts October 9th.
March 19th Disney fundraiser, $10 a person (movie and popcorn/drink included), we will have the whole movie theatre to ourselves. Gertrude Hawk sale? Roma pizza meal night? Box tops-fall and early spring submission.
Will be Friday, October 23rd and is hosted by the HSA and Rec. department. Possibly contribute to DJ?
